The big title fight between Canelo Alvarez and Amir Khan is just about two weeks away. Both fighters look in top shape with Canelo already knowing what strategy to use against Khan.
In an interview with Boxing Scene, the 25-year-old middleweight champion said that he always gives his 100 percent in training and the only change he does is the strategy. He added that he knows Khan will use Floyd Mayweather’s strategy.
“For Amir, we have focused on increasing my hand speed, counter punching and preparing for lots of movement and footwork. We believe [Amir] will adopt a similar style to Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Erislandy Lara,” Canelo said.
The Mexican fighter faced “Money” Mayweather back in September 2013 when he lost via majority decision. His next opponent, the 29-year-old Khan, is considered by many as one of the fastest punchers in boxing today.
“I have my game plan and he has his. We are both preparing to the best of our ability to what we know are each other’s strengths. Yet, fight night can be very unpredictable. You have to adjust to what your opponent is doing and also apply pressure at the same time. I can’t predict a definite outcome, but I can say that I am going to bring the best of me in the ring,” he added.
Canelo Alvarez is not known for his trash talking and he believes he does not need it to sell his fight against Khan. According to OddsShark, Canelo is -300 favorite to win while Khan is a +240 underdog who jumps two weight classes for this fight.

If Canelo wins this fight and retains his WBC middleweight belt, he will likely face WBA, IBF and IBO champion Gennady Golovkin to unify all the titles. Golovkin is coming off an impressive second-round TKO win over previously undefeated Dominic Wade last Saturday.
