Conor McGregor next fight could be in MMA or boxing and no one knows the plans of the Irish star. There are rumors of a boxing fight against retired American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. but so far nothing has been official.

Lately, Canelo Alvarez, the current face of boxing, has put his name as consideration for McGregor, via his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya.

Canelo to destroy Conor!

According to De La Hoya, who is a former boxer himself, Alvarez can dominate McGregor.

De La Hoya also joked that Canelo “also looks Irish, just like Conor” in the said interview with TMZ Sports.

The former boxing champ also extended an invitation to McGregor to watch the December 17 fight between Bernard Hopkins and Joe Smith, whom he called the “real legends” in the sport. The Hopkins vs. Smith fight is set at The Forum in California.

Recently, McGregor got his boxing license in California to open the possibility that he will fight in a boxing match. The recent move by the Irishman follows the furious exchanges and “trash talk” with Mayweather, who has retired from the sport.

Mayweather recently posted his check worth $100 million he earned from the Pacquiao fight last year. Mayweather also called McGregor insignificant comparing himself to an “elephant” while McGregor is an “ant.”

McGregor responded by saying that Mayweather should talk trash in his face.

McGregor vs. Alvarez or Mayweather?

There are many rumors concerning the retired American fighter including the fight against McGregor and a possible rematch with Manny Pacquiao. A Mayweather vs. McGregor or Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight will both be big draws and pay-per-view sales.
