World-renowned trainer Freddie Roach may have his hands full when he visits his favorite ward Manny Pacquiao in the Philippines to train him against Jessie Vargas, but he wasn’t mincing words in expressing his opinion regarding Kell Brook vs. GGG during his spare time at the Wild Card Gym.

Boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard may have given a bit of hope for Kell Brook fans ahead of his fight with Gennady Golovkin when he opined that movement would be an important key to his strategy.

He likened it to one of his return fights against Marvin Hagler, and Sugar Ray Leonard said that ring generalship and the movement would confuse a stronger and more powerful GGG.

However, coach Freddie Roach may not directly disagree with this technical assessment, but he thinks Kell Brook has practically no chance at all to beat GGG and likened it to another match up that previously received wide criticism: Canelo Alvarez vs. Amir Khan.

Canelo Alvarez is a natural middleweight boxer who fought a bloated welterweight in Amir Khan and knocked him out in round 6 in spite of Khan leading the scorecards early on.

Freddie Roach even described Kell Brook in a video interview by Fight Hub as “desperate for a payday.” He also referred to GGG as currently the best boxer Pound 4 Pound, although he doubts he’ll be as popular as boxers such as Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather.

With regards to Canelo Alvarez, Freddie Roach believes Liam Smith is a real tough guy and could win his fight.

The outspoken Amir Khan chimed in with his thoughts on Kell Brook vs GGG. He said that the former might be making a big mistake by bulking up so much and weighing more than GGG.

According to a report by Boxing Scene Amir Khan said, “I think Kell Brook is small for the weight going on. But even though he’s been weighing in heavier than GGG… Triple G weighed in at 162 I heard and Brook I heard was almost 168, so he’s already a lot heavier than him.”

“I think maybe he’s taking the wrong approach for the fight by being heavy. Naturally, if he would be a naturally lighter guy he could have moved quicker but if he’s going to stand there with a big puncher I think he’s going to get hurt.”

Truth-be-told, the heavier he comes, the less versatile he may be. He could also not adapt well to his added poundage that could cause him to gas out during the match.

Would you agree in the comparison with Freddie Roach of Kell Brook vs. GGG and Canelo Alvarez vs. Amir Khan?

Meanwhile, Manny Pacquiao has started his preparations against Jessie Vargas with his best friend Buboy Fernandez leading the training regime. It is not clear yet as to when Freddie would take over the helm in Manila.
