UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor is yet to announce his return to the Octagon as he plans to prioritize his superfight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. However, UFC president Dana White, who strongly disagrees in letting McGregor fight in the boxing ring, believes that bout will not happen soon.

In an interview with TMZ Sports, White revealed that the superfight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is “nowhere near being done.” White denied that the much-awaited bout will happen in June, saying “there is no target date whatsoever.” The UFC president made the statement after Flocombat reported that T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas has put the June 10 date on hold for the mega-fight between McGregor and Mayweather.

Since the superfight started creating noise again, “The Notorious” and “Money” continue to exchange shots. Though the details of the bout remain unofficial, both camps seems confident that the fight will happen. Mayweather recently stated that he will only unretire for McGregor and urged him to sign the fight agreement.

“For Conor McGregor, I’m coming out of retirement … just to fight Conor McGregor,” Mayweather told TMZ Sports. “I don’t want to hear no more excuses about the money, about the UFC. Sign the paper with the UFC so you can fight me in June. Simple and plain. Let’s fight in June. You’re the B side, I’m the A side.”

UFC Champ Michael Bisping reveals why Mayweather wants to fight McGregor

UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping believes the superfight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor will happen. However, like Dana White, Bisping doesn’t think it will happen in June. He also revealed Mayweather’s supposed reason for coming out of retirement to fight McGregor.

“My bet is that the fight will happen,” Bisping opined on a recent episode of his podcast, ‘Believe You Me.’ “Will it happen in June? I don’t know, that might be a bit too soon. But from what I understand, I was talking to someone in Las Vegas and I heard that Floyd recently got scammed out of a lot of money. The number was very, very big. I don’t think Floyd needs the money, but he wants to replace this money that he got swindled out of.”

Bisping believes that the superfight will be a big opportunity for Conor McGregor to become one of the greatest fighters of all time. However, for the fight to happen, McGregor should consider talking to the UFC first.
