Marvel and ABC’s “Agent Carter” leads the list of series which will be discontinued for various reasons but mainly for low ratings and fan support. Studios announced earlier in the week which TV series will not be coming back for another season.
For ABC, Marvel’s “Agent Carter” will not have a third season while “Marvel’s Most Wanted”, a planned spin off series from the characters of Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood from “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” will not push through.
Other ABC series being canned are “The Family”, “Galavant”, “Nashville” and “The Muppets”.
CBS has cancelled the planned “CSI: Cyber” series which would have been the last in the franchise but the studio decided that CSI franchise is now completely done.
Fox has canned “Bordertown”, “Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life”, “Grandfathered” and “The Grinder.” From CW, “Containment” won’t return though they got the “Supergirl” DC series from CBS.
According to reports, “Agent Carter” while critically acclaimed did not produce the desired ratings in its second season. Without the spin-off series for Palicki and Blood, it’s seen that their characters will be returning to the “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” series in the future.
There is also an online petition from fans to “save Agent Carter” with many suggesting that Netflix should try to get the rights on the series. Netflix is responsible for critically acclaimed Marvel series like “Daredevil” and “Jessica Jones”.
Agent Carter stars Hayley Atwell, who also played the character in the “Captain America: First Avenger” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” box office hit movies.
