Thursday’s episode of The Blacklist season 4 featured a near-perfect trap and a hint on who might be Elizabeth Keen’s (Megan Boone) real father.
After five episodes of the current season of the show, the story seems to revolve on one particular character, Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen). Liz’s complicated feelings on Kirk continue to divide her relationship with Reddington (James Spader) as she wants to keep Kirk alive while Red wants to kill him otherwise.
Episode five tells how Red extracted the information of Kirk’s location after torturing Dr. Reifler (Matt Servitto), Kirk’s hematologist. After learning that the doctor and Kirk is supposed to have a meeting for a scheduled treatment, Red, Dembe (Hisham Tawfiq) and the doctor went to Geneva.
With Liz left behind, Tom (Ryan Eggold) called her saying that a tip from Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) told them that the current whereabouts of Kirk is in Russia, which made her frantically call Red and Dembe that they might be walking into a trap and it turned out she was right.
Red and Dembe went unscathed from the foiled trap but it lead to Red to suspect Liz who may have tipped Kirk that they were coming. Although her phone call did save his life, the two of them clearly have different objectives regarding Kirk.
The tension between them only worsen when Liz confronted Red with a DNA evidence that Tom obtained from his source which proves once and for all that Kirk is her father and everything that Red told her was a lie. Red did not deny her accusations but he did not confirm it either.
To balance out all the intensity, it was also fun and awkward to see Aram’s (Amir Arison) new girlfriend, Elise, asking Samar (Mozhan Marno) pointers on how to plan a perfect date for Aram, to make up for flooding his apartment after a dishwasher accident. Hopefully, that will inspire her to make a move as there is something off about Elise.
The Blacklist airs Thursdays at 10/9c on NBC.
