After the Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie breakup that is circulating in the internet today,  a new high profile couple has recently called it quits with their marriage. Celebrity Chef and TV personality Anthony Bourdain and his MMA fighter/trainer wife Ottavia Busia are separating after nine years of being together.

The news first reported by Page Six citing sources close to the couple, that “they’ve been separated for while” but “there was no one else involved.”

The 60-year-old Bourdain, who grew up in Leonia, met the 38-year-old Busia, a former general manager at the restaurant Geisha, through his friend chef Eric Lipert. They soon started to hit it off and they even got matching chef’s knife tattoos. Busia, who grew up in Lombardi, Italy came to the United States in 2000. Bourdain, after his divorce from his first wife, married Busia in 2007 and their daughter Ariane, was born on the same year.

The couple’s age difference did not make much difference initially. Rather, it was the time schedule and their different priorities in life and lifestyle that drove the couple to break up. Currently, Busia is likely to be focused on her passion for Brazilian jiu-jitsu and MMA and trains at the world famous Renzo Grazie Academy and ditched most of the habits that brought her and Bourdain together.

While Bourdain, who is heading up the Singapore-inspired large Bourdain Market project at Pier 57 in New York, recently won his fourth consecutive Emmy for outstanding informational series or special for CNN’s “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown.”

In a column  for Lena Dunham’s Lenny site last month, Busia commented on her marriage with Bourdain, who wrote, “I have changed. My husband half-jokes that he married Sophia Loren but ended up with Jean-Claude Van Damme. But there’s something to that. I’m not the same person now.”

Either way, the couple remains close. Busia congratulated Bourdain on his Creative Arts Emmy win via Instagram, where she goes by the name Ottavia Bourdain.

Bourdain was previously married to Nancy Putkoski, his high school sweetheart, for 20 years.
