The K-drama ‘Descendants of the Sun’ has been welcomed with open arms and has received a lot of good reviews from audiences across Asia, and now the fans couldn’t wait for its rumored Season 2.
After DoTS ended last April 14, 2016, fans called out to KBS to produce a sequel to the hit drama series, and KBS seemed to hear the fans’ wish. The network recently said that they very grateful to the fans and everyone involved in the production of the film, and would like to repay these people with a sequel that they will be striving to produce.
However, when asked if the next project is going to be a Season 2 of the drama series, Jung Sung Ho of KBS drama department said that the writer of the series, Kim Eun Sook, thinks a second season would be too heavy and they still need to discuss if the next project would still be about a soldier.
“Descendants of the Sun’ was this year’s top drama and greatly contributed to the Hallyu wave, and we mean that we wish to work on a project that will follow it closely.” said Jung Sung Ho.
Jung Sung Ho also said that the next project won’t be requiring all of the cast from the hit drama series, and this would be understandable as most of the leading actresses and actors of the show are currently busy with their other showbiz commitments.
Reports even say that Song Joong-ki, the actor that plays one of the main characters in the drama, is considering quitting showbiz because of privacy issues.
The sequel to the DoTS is said to be released in 2017.
