Maisie Williams also known as Arya confirmed the return of his brother Rickon Stark in Game of Thrones season 6 during an interview at BBC Radio 1 with Nick Grimshaw.
“Ye-es,” she replied tentatively when a caller asked whether or not we’ll be hearing from Rickon this season. “Yes. Maybe.”
Shortly after, Williams gave a more definitive response: “Yes, we will indeed… Oh no, I’m literally going to get off the air and someone’s going to email me!”
Rickon Stark last appeared in season 3 wherein they were in an abandoned mill to escape a thunderstorm. Bran protected his companions by fighting the wildlings they happened to see that night, including Rickon’s half brother, Jon Snow, who was captured by the Free Folk. Bran then used his ability to free Snow and return to Night’s Watch.
With the fear of the last night incident, Bran instructed Osha to bring Rickon to Last Hearth, the seat of House Umber, whose lord Greation Umber was a loyal bannerman of the Starks. Rickon did not like the idea so insisted to accompany his brother on his journey. However, Bran explained that Rickon needs to stay alive as the heir to Winterfell.
The Last appearance of Rickon was when he was with direwolf Shaggydog and Osha heading for Last Hearth which was the same time when the Red Wedding took place where Rickon’s family was killed, his mother Catelyn, his brother Robb and sister-in-law Talisa.
After Rickon Stark’s last appearance in season 3, many had speculated his death. However, with Maisie Williams’ confirmation about his brother’s return to the TV show, a question must be swirling in everybody’s mind regarding what happened to Rickon and how did he manage to survive alone? Or did someone help him from the time he was lost?
This would be another revelation after Jon Snow’s resurrection was confirmed. Game of Thrones season 6 episode 3 will surely be an intense scene that everybody can’t wait to watch.
