Veteran actress Gillian Anderson will play “Media” in the Neil Gaiman book to TV series, “American Gods”, confirms multiple reports.
In the “American Gods” novel, the premise surround around gods and mythological creatures with their powers coming from the people’s “belief” in them. The “American Gods” TV series, which is expected to air in 2017, will closely follow the novel’s plot starring Ricky Whittle (Shadow Moon) and Ian McShane (Mr. Wednesday).

Neil Gaiman, the author of the “American Gods” novel where the TV series is based also showed his excitement of Gillian Anderson joining the show:

Other “American Gods” TV series credited to be appearing so far are Emily Browning, Yetide Badaki, Bruce Langley, Jonathan Tucker, Crispin Glover, Pablo Schreiber, Cloris Leachman, Peter Stormare, Chris Obi and Mousa Kraish, among others.
“American Gods” was supposed to air on HBO but management and the creative team could not agree on the direction of the writing and script, according to reports. In 2014, Starz decided to develop the series and acquired the rights.
Shooting has already started for “American Gods” earlier this year and is expected to last until September.
With “American Gods”, Bryan Fuller and Gillian Anderson will reunite after the pair worked together in “Hannibal”.
