Harry Potter actor Josh Herdman, or also known as Gregory Goyle, in the widely popular movie franchise, recently made his debut in the mixed martial arts (MMA) world.
Herdman played Gregory Goyle in the Harry Potter movies and he’s taking his act from magic to MMA with his debut in the fight sport last Saturday in London. Herdman, who is from Hampton, England, defeated compatriot Janusz Walachowski in the “Rise of Champions 2” event in Romford, England via a decision victory.
“I’ve been training traditional Japanese jujitsu for nearly five years and hold a shodan black belt, Herdman said to the Daily Mirror.
“It’s raw, exciting and unpredictable. I find it more interesting than boxing although I appreciate the beauty and art in boxing. It also made sense to move onto MMA because of my jujitsu training.”
Now 28 years old Herdman admitted that acting is still something in his mind but added that he is really passionate about his fighting career.
“I haven’t fallen out of love with [acting], I still have an agent and still go for auditions. It’s just a little bit like playing the lottery for a living,” Herdman added. “I don’t see it so much as a career change, I am passionate about both acting and fighting.”
Herdman played Goyle first in the first Harry Potter movie, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” in 2001 until the final installment, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” or appearing in all eight Harry Potter movies.
