“Lucifer” lead actor Tom Ellis noted that in the show’s upcoming Season Two, his character Lucifer Morningstar will be reminded that he is the “Devil” and the Prince of Darkness. Rumors have it that these qualities will be put to use Lucifer’s quest to find his mother, who escaped the gates of hell.
In an interview with Empire Online, Ellis narrated that in Season 2 they will try to explore something new and it will involve his character as not just being selfish but also the conflict within him whenever he is close to detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German).
“It’s important for Lucifer sometimes to remember that he’s the Devil; to keep the notion that he is a wild animal that is seemingly being tamed, but at any moment could snap. That is important in the evolution of where we’re going with it,” Ellis said.
Ellis also answered the question as to why people are hooked to the show as they were given a second season by Fox Network. He explained that the curiosity of the viewers played a big role as everyone knows the character and who the Devil is. He, however, added that the show is not about glorifying the Devil or that it has any intention to debate with any theological subjects. He stressed that the show just wants to tell people to take responsibilities for their actions.
“Everyone in the world knows or thinks they know of the character of the Devil, or who the Devil is. Every culture’s has their own thing that represents evil. There was a kind of intrigue about that to start with. The take that we’re going to, the way that we’re personifying this idea, is interesting to people. The heart of the show, and I really don’t think it’s intended to be in any way didactic or bring some sort of theological debate into play, is basically saying, ‘Why don’t we just all take a look at ourselves and maybe take responsibility for our actions?’ The world might be a better place for it,” Ellis explained.
It is already a given fact that in Season 2, the story shifts its attention to finding Lucifer’s mom. Showrunner Joe Henderson has already explained that they will focus on introducing Lucifer’s mom that was a big cliff hanger when the initial season came to an end. Henderson added that they will try their best to mix comics and mythology to be able to construct the personality of Lucifer’s mom, who is also known as the Goddess Asherah.

Both Ellis and Henderson added that viewers will be in for a ride with the coming season that is set to hit the small screen this fall and for sure people will be hooked to know more revelations on Ellis’ character and of Lucifer’s mother.
