Mike Tyson has some advice for Ronda Rousey, says ‘we’re in the hurt business’

Ever since Ronda Rousey was knocked out by Holly Holm at UFC 193 in November last year, Rousey has hardly been communicating and is mostly seen with her face covered. Mike Tyson, now has some powerful and important message for Rousey.

Both Tyson and Rousey were once considered invincible who have never tasted defeat. But at times, the mighty too falls down and has to taste the bitter touch of defeat.

Tyson’s world collapsed when he was knocked out by James ‘Butler’ Douglas on Feb 11, 1990. ‘Iron Mike’ who had become the youngest heavyweight boxing champion tasted defeat for the first time.

Like Tyson, Rousey too never tasted defeat from the moment of her Octagon debut but that was until Holm knocked her out with a powerful side kick at UFC 193. Rousey entered the Octagon with the tag of ‘undefeated’ and the ‘baddest woman on the planet’ but came out instead with bruises and was rushed to hospital for injuries, following which she underwent a surgery later.

Tyson who had visited and spoken to Rousey in the past has some words of wisdom again for Rousey. Stopping by Conan O’ Brien’s talk show last night, Tyson dropped some advice for Rousey about coping and recovering from her knockout loss.

The former heavyweight champion asked Rousey to show people that she is human and embrace the fact that they are in the hurt business. Ever since her defeat, Rousey has been running away from questions and has not even congratulated Holm. Tyson’s advice then becomes all the more meaningful especially in their field of sports where winning and losing should be considered part of the game.

Tyson also advised Rousey to leave the house and be seen [in response to the incident where Rousey hid her face from public with a pillow just after her loss to Holm].

“She has to understand — we’re in the hurt business,” he told Conan O’Brien.

“And I don’t care if you’re the king of the hurt business — we’re in the business where you get hurt. She’s just got to be seen. Come out the house, whatever. Show your face. You’re human. She’s just unfortunate that she’s a Goliath.”
