Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank last fought twenty two years ago in 1993. And now the retired boxer Nigel Benn has challenged his rival for a rematch and a third bout.
The third bout between the two long-term rivals could be dubbed the rumble in the jungle and worth £10million.
Eubank has been repeatedly taunting the 51-year-old during his stint in the jungle on I’m a Celebrity and now Benn has taken to Twitter to declare he is more than ready for a sensational return to the ring.
Benn said: “Mate I’m also fitter than ever. Let’s get this thing on Chris Eubank, but no more games.”
“When you get out lets get it on with the fight.”
Eubank retired in 1998 after 52 fights and 45 wins. He claimed on the ITV show over the weekend that he would like a rematch and told his campmates that Benn was a rival like no other during his boxing heyday.
Eubank said: “I am not really competitive. I can easily always walk away and then I come to Nigel Benn, the bad blood between us is fierce. So I am not competitive, only with him.”
“I got it the first time, I drew with him the second time. He was born to activate me, he won’t leave me alone.”
“He keeps asking for this rematch. If I do fight him again, he is not beating me.”
“Of course there is a part of Eubank that wants to get back in the ring with Nigel Benn.”
“If you are listening, I am in the jungle and I am getting fit boy.”
The pair fought in middleweight and super middleweight contests in 1990 and 1993 with their fights being touted as huge box office events. A third bout would undoubtedly pull a massive TV audience.
