After leaving The Vampire Diaries on its 6th season, Nina Dobrev is making a comeback on the 8th season of the show, reuniting with her past lover, Ian Somerhalder.

According to Hollywood Life, Nina is “10,000” percent sure to be coming back for the 8th season of the series. Nina’s voice was also featured on the last episode of the 7th season, sparking excitement from Elena Gilbert fans.

Although Ian Somerhalder announced at Walker Stalker Con in Nashville that the 8th season is going to be the last season of the series, the CW has not yet made an official announcement about the last season of the series, and Nina’s comeback may push for an extension of the show.

Regarding the number of episodes she may possibly appear on the 8th season, Nina might appear less and might only be featured on few episodes, and it is only to give a conclusion to her story.

Another thing that keeps the rumor about Nina coming back alive is Kat Graham’s announcement that the 8th season will be her last season. If the show does not end on the 8th season and Kat Graham’s character, Bonnie, is gone by the season finale, Elena’s comeback is more possible.

On the other hand, if Nina indeed makes a comeback, it would mean that she will be reunited with her past lover, Ian Somerhalder who recently got married to Nikki Reed. According to Hollywood Life, Nina’s return does not upset Nikki at all, as “Nikki and Ian are so in love.” and that “There’s nothing he could possibly do to upset her.”
