Lately, One Piece manga release reportedly turns to monthly instead of having it per week. Fans thought of two theories with the schedule change. Most of them think that Eiichiro Oda needs to rest while others speculate on the creator’s health issues.
Many fans agreed that Eiichiro Oda is getting older and he needs to rest after long years of working at his extremes to create the famous One Piece manga. He started the manga in 1999 which later became one of the most iconic works he did in the last 17 years.
Proof of his hard work is the delayed honeymoon in 2015 after 11 years of marriage with his wife, Chiaki Inaba, in 2004. The reason behind the delay is obvious. He prioritized One Piece manga before his personal life and maybe his health as well.
When the news about changing the release schedules of One Piece manga from weekly to monthly, many fans were surprised though the majority thought he deserved it. Some of them were devastated. Every chapter is getting exciting. So, it made fans feel bad about the change.
Others agree to the idea that Oda is getting older and he needs to have a regular rest. Given the promise not to declare hiatus like Togashi Yoshihiro of Hunter X Hunter, it will be okay. One of the fans shared in Anime News Network forum about Oda’s health concern.
“Oda isn’t getting any younger and people need to take his health into consideration. Who knows, maybe having some extra time (and rest) will help him come up with more stuff. Personally, I’ll take quality over quantity any day,” a user named Core Signal wrote.
Another fan named Videogamep supported the thought. He said that Oda has been taking breaks because of health reasons. “Oda’s been taking a lot of breaks like that since Dressrosa started, which was way before the [One Piece movie] was announced. I think the breaks are mostly for health reasons since he works constantly and almost never gets any rest,” he stated.
Eiichiro Oda might have thought of taking breaks in between which caused the rumors to leak regarding its monthly releases. Speculations will remain theories unless fans learned Oda’s serious health issues. Certainly, One Piece manga’s creator won’t declare hiatus.
