Orange is the New Black Season 5 star Adrienne C. Moore wished that her character could get out from Litchfield prison. She explained the importance of showing Black Cindy’s new life.

Moore plays Black Cindy, aka Tova, one of the iconic inmates, in the popular series Orange is the New Black.

She revealed her wish for her role’s chance to get a separate life outside Litchfield. During an interview with Dr. Nancy Berk of Parade, she told the importance of showing a new life that Black Cindy to be worthy.

Although the actress knew her role brought laughter and light atmosphere in the prison, she believed Black Cindy aka Tova deserved to experience the kind of life she missed.

Moore’s inspiration rooted from Nick Sandow’s well-done portrayal as Litchfield’s director or warden. For her, he was absolutely dynamic.

In addition to what she told Berk, she also wanted the show to emphasize the great importance of men’s roles in a female-dominated show.

For Orange is the New Black Season 5, Moore cited the men with interesting characters in the series should be given the chance to own the spotlight.

“I know a lot of the girls get the focus on the show, obviously because they’re the prisoners and that’s the kind of the main focus, but … we can’t underestimate or overlook the men on our show who do such a fantastic job,” she said.

Moreover, the actress revealed her admiration towards Black Cindy. She clearly clarified to how she became an admirer of her own role.

Moore and Black Cindy came from a family with well-established religious background. This became the stronghold of their lives.

She added the comical nature of Black Cindy seemed to be similar like her unconsciously. For her, this is the only way to lighten up the dark situation.

Aside from her role, she also fell in love with the show. In fact, she became an avid fan. According to Moore, the show tackled controversial issues which appeared an important tool for social awareness.

These alone became her clear grounds to love the show she’s in. The all-new Orange is the New Black Season 5 release was already slated in 2017 on Netflix.
