Manny Pacquiao’s number of celebrity critics is growing. The latest is Filipino-American wrestler Batista, who called the Filipino boxer a “f—kin idiot” for the latter’s remarks about same-sex marriage in recent days.
“My mom happens to be a lesbian so I don’t f–king take that s–t. I don’t think it’s funny,” Batista said to TMZ. “If anyone called my mother an animal I’d stick my foot in his a–.”
Batista, whose real name is David Michael Bautista Jr., was part of Pacquiao’s entrance entourage when the Filipino fought Ricky Hatton in 2009.
Batista said that he still “looks up” to Pacquiao as a fighter but admitted he lost some respect for the Filipino for his stand and recent statement against same-sex marriage.
“It’s just his personal views. I don’t know how he’s even coming up with this garbage. It’s just horrible. It makes me respect him at a lot less,” Batista added.
In the middle of a controversy surrounding his anti-gay sentiments, Pacquiao remains focused for his next fight, against Timothy Bradley on April 9, 2016 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“I believe I have said my piece on the same-sex-marriage issue and I have nothing more to say,” Pacquiao said about the controversy in a recent interview.
The 47-year-old Batista is one of the many World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) superstars who found success in Hollywood.
Born to a Filipino father, Batista has starred in the box office hit, “Guardians of the Galaxy” Marvel movie in 2014 as the superhero character “Drax” and last year, as a villain in the James Bond movie “Spectre”.
