So now that we have all forgotten about Ryan Lochte and the mess he made at Rio 2016, we can all move on to his next career choice: dancing.
Although the Rio charges are still there and the sponsors are gone, Lochte seems to be putting everything behind him by joining Dancing with the Stars, possibly in an effort to cha-cha some change into his tarnished image. The cast of the dancing show was announced on Good Morning America, Tuesday, which included other names like Amber Rose and Locthe’s fellow Olympian, gymnast Laurie Hernandez.
Ryan Lochte will be paired with Cheryl Burke, whom he just can’t seem to take his eyes off.

Reports of the athlete’s participation had already circulated before Brazilian authorities had charged Lochte with falsely reporting a crime during the Olympics. A crime, according to Lochte’s initial account, which led to a gun being pointed at his head.
But evidence showed that Locthe had exaggerated the story and he, along with three other US swimmers, were actually intoxicated on the night of the incident, prompting the Brazilian government to charge the athletes for their actions.
Since then, Lochte has suffered the backlash of fans and sponsors, with brands like Speedo and Ralph Lauren breaking ties with the Olympic athlete. Understandably, the entire incident has already taken a financial, legal and emotional toll on the swimmer.
“The emotional part is the hardest thing,” he admitted during an interview with NBC. “The past two weeks have been the lowest point of my life. It’s been really hard. But the fans, my family, my friends, they’ve all been really positive, keeping me going. And that’s what I wanna do. And this is perfect with the show because I want to put that behind me.”
Will he be able to? Or will Ryan Lochte fall flat on his face? Catch him and the rest of the Dancing with the Stars cast when season 23 premiers on September 12.
