Freeform’s Shadowhunters Season 2 is all about war. The second installment of the American fantasy TV series is reportedly going to be intense and viewers will get to see a different side for each of the faction of the shadow world.
According to Movie News Guide, fans of the show can expect to see the leaders of each faction gather together, despite the fact of the growing threat from the rogue shadowhunter. This is in retrospect to last season’s finale where Valentine Morgenstern (Alan Van Sprang) got a hold of the Mortal Cup. He then raised an army together with his son, Jace (Dominic Sherwood), who aim to bring down The Clave.
“[T]here’s a great scene in 2A where all the heads of the downworld except for the godfather get together and you have the warlocks and the werewolves and the vampire and the seelies in this meeting of ‘What are we going to do?'” Showrunner Todd Slavkin talked to Screen Spy.
“With Valentine out there creating a threat for everybody and the way The Clave is responding to it, puts a lot of pressure on this uneasily alliance between the different groups–and we find that really interesting,” Showrunner Darren Swimmer shared. “The wolf pack, the vampires, the seelies. Later in the first ten we’re going to see things become a little more tense between them.”
Meanwhile, Jace will form a parabatai bond with his foster brother and best friend in Shadowhunters Season 2, Alec (Matthew Daddario). Further, the first half of season 2 will largely tackle about the attempt to rescue Jace from Valentine. Freeform also teased that in order to find her brother, Clary (Katherine McNamara) would have to complete her training first with Isabelle.
