Sherlock Season 4, one of the much anticipated suspense/drama/detective series in the world today, is set to return to BBC this January 2017, with the promise of romance, comedy and tragedy within its three episode run.
Avid fans are eagerly waiting for the return of Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) and his trusted partner Dr. John Watson (Martin Freeman) since the release of the show’s mysterious trailer which revealed a few clues for Sherlock’s fate in the upcoming episodes of Sherlock Season 4.
FANS HAVE MISSED CLUES
According to Radio Times, the show’s co-creator Mark Gatiss, who also stars in the series as Mycroft Holmes, said that the things they have been planning for years are coming into fruition in this upcoming series and would surely surprise everyone.
Gatiss also quashed the rumors flying regarding Moriarty’s death. He said he is amazed by the creativity of the theories regarding the villain’s demise but what people thought or speculated about Moriarty’s death won’t be happening. He went on to say that people should focus on the real hints rather than speculating over random unrelated details.
TOM HIDDLESTON AS SHERRINFORD
Fans went wild with recent reports that actor Tom Hiddleston would be appearing in the upcoming series as the third Holmes brother, Sherrinford. Gatiss tweeted a picture of himself, his co-star Amanda Abbington (who plays Mary Morstan in the series) and Hiddleston at San Diego Comic Con with the caption: ‘Blud’, according to Metro.
The cast also dropped a number of clues about season 4, one of those was a card held up with the word ‘Sherrinford’ on it. According to the fictional biography of Sherlock, that was the name of the detective’s third brother.
The introduction of the third Holmes sibling was hinted after Mycroft said: ‘I’m not given to outbursts of brotherly compassion. You know what happened to the other one.’
In a report made by IBTimes, a new villain will be introduced to the show who is said to be the darkest villain the series has seen. The new villain Culverton Smith (played by Toby Jones) is “the purest evil”, “darkest villain we’ve had”, co-creator Steven Moffat said. Sherlock is actually appalled by him. He’s the most evil villain we’ve had. I don’t think that when you see it, you will disagree. He’s horrific,” he added.
Sherlock will return with season 4 in 2017.
