Months after the release of the special episode of ‘Sherlock’ that left fans craving for its brand new season 4, little but exciting news regarding the much-awaited series have started to circulate.
The ‘Sherlock’ series have reportedly finished filming the first episode in Morocco, and will be continuing to film the next episodes for the fourth season.
According to BBC, Harry Potter star Toby Jones will be playing as the main villain that Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson will be dealing with. However, it is not revealed which classic villain that Arthur Conan Doyle has created will be portrayed by Toby Jones.
Most of the production team including writers, co-creators and executive producers Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss have expressed their excitement to have Toby Jones join the cast, with Moffat saying he is “delighted to have Toby Jones on board, bringing to life one of Doyle’s finest villains,” and Gatiss saying “We’re thrilled to welcome one of our finest actors to the Sherlock family. I know Toby will embrace the part with true relish!”
Reports also say that Marvel’s ‘Thor’ star Tom Hiddleston will be joining the cast as Sherlock’s other brother, Sherrinford Holmes, as Mark Gatiss said that he would love to have Hiddleston join the cast. However, Gatiss also said that it would be difficult to make it happen because of the actor’s busy schedule.
Fans are also talking about Moriarty’s possible comeback in the next season, but doubts fill in as Sherlock said in the Abominable Bride that Moriarty won’t be coming back because he shot himself in the head and no one survives that.
But it’s Sherlock, after all, and we all know how the show loves to put in shocking plot twists. The first episode of the fourth season is set to be released in January 2017.
