The final Star Wars 8 trailer has been released recently. It signals the home stretch before hitting the cinemas. With that, many are predicting that it will rake in $130 million at the box office in its first week.
Surpassing Star Wars 7
Star Wars 8: Rogue One will hit the theaters on December 16. If Disney’s strategy to release the movie before Christmas is right, it will be a big hit as its predecessor. The movie company hopes to repeat the same opening day success it had with Star Wars 7.
The movie is projected to earn $130 million at the box office in its first week just in the United States alone. If the predictions are right, Star Wars 8 will be the second highest-grossing movie to open in December. The honor as the top-grossing movie still belongs to “The Force Awakens” with $247.9 million in its opening week.
Last Minute Reveals
Star Wars 8 has also made some last-minute reveals with its last trailer. One of it is the introduction of a new android named K-2SO. The human-sized robot looked menacing and badass compared to the iconic C3PO. Those who have seen the trailer of Star Wars 8 received it with mixed emotions.
K-2SO is voiced by Alan Tudyk and will fight alongside the Rebel Alliance. Since it was a reprogrammed Imperial Security droid, its greatest advantage is its ability to blend in Imperial installations and outposts.
Star Wars fans got to see his powers when he was seen blasting a group of Stormtroopers with just one go. He also proves to be very loyal and stubborn at the same time.
Star Wars 8: Rogue One is a standalone Star Wars movie taking place between the timelines of Star Wars:Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.
Tickets for the movie are already on sale starting November 28.
