Tom Ellis and his character “Lucifer” is not only getting a second season with Fox TV, it has also gotten the irked of a women’s group calling themselves as OneMillionMoms.com. The group is calling for parents, especially mothers, not to let their children watch the fantasy police procedural comedy-drama television series that depicts the devil “look cool and irresistible to women.”
In their website, TV watchdog One Million Moms stated that Fox’s new drama “Lucifer” is spiritually dangerous as the new program seems to glorify Satan as a caring, likable person in human flesh.
“The program included graphic acts of violence, a nightclub featuring scantily-clad women, and a demon. The message of the show is clear. Lucifer is just misunderstood. He doesn’t want to be a bad guy, it’s God who is forcing him to play that role,” their website reads.
The group as reported by Christian Today is also against the story line that the show is trying to promote in Season Two – Lucifer’s Mother a.k.a. God’s wife. In the Season One finale which was entitled “Take me Back to Hell,” Lucifer made a deal with his “father” to save the life of Chloe played by Lauren German and in exchange he will go back to his chores in Hell. Even his brother Amenadiel played by D. B. Woodside was hurt in the process and was just saved by Mazikeen.
When Lucifer’s request was granted, he got the chance to bond with his brother and that was when he spilled the beans that their “mother,” escaped Hell and he was tasked by their “father” to bring her back to Hell.
One Millions Mom’s goal is to stop the exploitation of children, especially by the entertainment media (TV, music, movies, etc.). The watch group also stated that mothers have the most powerful tool to stand against the immorality, violence, vulgarity and profanity the entertainment media is throwing at the youth today.
The series Lucifer, is based on the comic book series “The Sandman,” which later became the protagonist of the spin-off comic book series “Lucifer” written by Mike Carey, both published by DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint, focuses on Lucifer Morningstar played by Tom Ellis, who simply gets bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell and resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the beauty of Los Angeles. He then runs a piano bar called “Lux”, with the assistance of his demonic ally Mazikeen. Lucifer then gets involved with Detective Chloe Decker in fighting crime in the City of Angeles
Fox TV, show runner Joe Henderson and Tom Ellis has not yet responded to the request of One Million Moms. But one thing is for sure Season Two for Lucifer is on the works and is most likely to hit the television screens by January next year.
