After Cristiano Ronaldo blurted out bitter comments against the Iceland football team for their 1-1 draw with Portugal, Iceland midfielder Kari Arnason hits back with his personal opinion about the Portuguese star.

Iceland had their own share of happiness during the match after Birkir Bjarnason, assisted by Birkir Sævarsson sends an equalizer with Portugal’s goal by Nani.

But it seems like Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo was not impressed with Iceland’s effort and celebration, as he said that unlike Portugal, Iceland did not do anything but defend.

“We just try our best, keep the ball all the time but Iceland didn’t try anything, they were just ‘defend, defend, defend’ and playing on the counter-attack. It was a lucky night for them.” Ronaldo stated.

He added that he personally thinks the way Iceland just defends shows “small mentality” and that they will not be doing anything in the competition. He also said criticized the way Iceland celebrated after the goal saying it was as if they have already won the EURO 2016.

This statement by Ronaldo did not make the Iceland players happy, and midfielder Kari Arnason struck back, saying Ronaldo was just a “sore loser” who and that he always fannies about and dives around.

Contradicting what Ronaldo said about their team being lucky to win, Arnason said that they were underdogs and that they were actually unlucky not to win.

He also said that Iceland coach Lars Lagerback did not instruct them to pay extra attention to and focus on Ronaldo, but simply told them to watch him closely.
