NBA News: JR Smith slams teammates as Wizards beat Cavs

The Cleveland Cavaliers are still on top of the Eastern Conference standings but it wont be for long as they lost against the struggling Washington Wizards, 113-99.

In fairness to the team, LeBron James preferred to sit this one out and while the big brother is away, John Wall had all day toying with their weakened opponents by scoring 21 points, 13 assists and 7 rebounds on just turning the ball over just 3 times.

The emerging Raptors are just a game away from equalizing the Cavs’ season record.

Among all the players in the Cavs’ roster, J.R. Smith was the most vocal and he criticized his team for having the lack of motivation.

“We can’t play basketball like this going down the stretch. There’s 24, 25 games left in the year and you talk about contending, being a championship contender and get blown out by a team. … After losing a game to the No. 2 team in the East then you come out and get thrashed and make it look good at the end.”

The Cavs’ who controversially lost the 2015 NBA Finals to to the Warriors by hearing excuses that they were short handed by playing without Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love.

J.R Smith emphasized that this time there should be no more excuses/

“We can’t do that. If we’re serious about who we’re supposed to be, then we can’t do this.”

“If you lose a game like the other night to a team like Toronto and come out here and play the way we did and you had a lack of energy, maybe we shouldn’t be in this position. I don’t know. It’s tough. If we’re going to play with a lack of energy after losing a game on the road and come out and play the way we did today, then we shouldn’t be who we are and be in these uniforms.”

The Cavs are to face the Indiana Pacers the next day and will have another chance to give a payback on the Washington Wizards this coming Friday at March 4, 2016 in their own backyard.
