Kevin Durant, one of the best players in the NBA and the top free agent to hit the market in the 2016 offseason, publicly admitted his fondness of Boston as a “sports” city and the Celtics as one of the exciting and top teams in the league. Durant’s comment should produce more NBA rumors that Durant will be leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder this summer.

Did Durant show his admiration for the Boston Celtics just as a sign of respect or is the Oklahoma City Thunder superstar sending a message that the Celtics could be one of his favorite landing spots when he becomes a free agent after the 2015-2016 NBA Season?

“I like the city a lot. It’s cold but they love sports here. It’s a family atmosphere I feel when I walk around the city. So yeah, I like it a lot,” Durant said via masslive.com. Durant is already linked to other squads in NBA rumors that has made the rounds earlier this season.

Kevin Durant also commented on some of the things he likes for the Boston Celtics squad, who are currently one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. Before the match-up against Durant and OKC, the Celtics have 39 wins against 28 losses and tied for third place in the conference standings.

“Marcus Smart, he’s a terrific competitor. He plays hard. He’s a little guy that can defend three positions so I have my work cut out for me. I’m looking forward to it. I’ve been watching this team a lot,” Kevin Durant added in the same article.

“And they’re scrappy. They play hard. They love their coach, they love their system, and especially in this building they play with a lot of energy. So it’s going to be a tough test.”

Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and the rest of the Oklahoma City Thunder take on the Boston Celtics in one of the best match-ups on schedule on Wednesday night.

The Boston Celtics are one of the many teams that have a big salary cap space in 2016 free agency and this allow the Boston franchise to add one or two superstars available in the market. Durant is just one of the many free agents, along with the likes of Rajon Rondo, Andre Drummond, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, DeMar DeRozan, Pau Gasol, Al Horford and Bradley Beal, among others. All of whom will be part of the NBA rumor mill as free agency signings begin after the 2015-2016 NBA Season.

The Boston Celtics are one of the many NBA squads that are expected to be chasing Kevin Durant, along with the likes of the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, Miami Heat and others.
