It’s not a shocking prediction, but NBA general managers (GM) are predicting that the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers will be meeting the third time in the last three years in the NBA Finals in June in 2017.
The NBA GMs was recently polled by the league’s official website and almost all are in agreement that Stephen Curry’s team, now with Kevin Durant will be completing a trilogy with LeBron James’s squad in the best-of-seven championship series.
However, of the 30 teams, 29 voted for the Cavaliers to make to win the Eastern Conference with one vote going to the Boston Celtics. It’s a similar number for the Warriors, with one vote going to the Tim Duncan-less San Antonio Spurs.
Last year, the Cavs and the Warriors were also favored to win their respective conferences, but Golden State was voted as just 51.7 percent favorites compared to the Cavaliers, which was at 96.6 percent.
This year, even the NBA GMs will not doubt the Warriors since they got superstar Durant in the offseason.
The arrival of KD has made the “Super Team” even stronger and they are the ones favored to win the title over the Cavaliers. 21 GMs voted for Golden State to win over Cleveland in the expected Warriors vs. Cavaliers third meeting in the NBA Finals.
Durant’s decision to join the Warriors has drawn criticisms from both the fans and NBA players. But Golden State lost in the NBA Finals last June so making a move for Durant was also expected from the team.
They lost a lot of key guys like Andrew Bogut, Harrison Barnes and others, but with Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, they are the team to beat this new NBA season, and almost all NBA GMs agrees.
