Hassan Whiteside is one of the best free agents to hit the market after the 2015-2016 NBA Season. The Miami Heat could lose him in free agency for nothing and are reportedly gauging interest for their prized big man as one of the latest NBA rumors.

Chris Broussard of ESPN first reported the development during the NBA All Star Break while Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald confirmed that two people that has contact with the Heat that Miami is “considering a Whiteside trade” if it helps the team’s financial situation and if they get some “quality talent back.”

According to the same Jackson report and NBA rumors, some Heat officials are frustrated with Whiteside’s attitude this season.

Whiteside has not controlled his emotions in some games this season that has caused some technical fouls and an ejection in the Heat’s last game. Whiteside was suspended by one game by the league for the last infraction after he elbowed an opponent to the face.

Whiteside is expected to get a big raise in the 2016 offseason as he is just earning about $1 million this year. Early free agency NBA rumors stat that Whiteside can even get a max deal worth over $15 million from other NBA teams.

The Heat are fifth in the Eastern Conference with 29 wins against 24 losses before the All Star break. Miami is just 2-3 in February and has dropped in the team standings in the East.

In just four years in the league, Whiteside, who was a second round pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, averages 12.2 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.9 blocked shots per game. He is the league leader in total blocked shots for the season.
