LeBron James was accused as the person responsible for firing previous head coach David Blatt. The Cleveland Cavaliers recently gave Blatt a championship ring after their successful run last season. However, latest NBA rumors show that LeBron doesn’t care if Blatt gets his ring or not.
“That’s an organizational thing and if that’s what they wanted to do then we’re all for it. Who am I to say who can or can’t get a ring?” LeBron told Cleveland.com.
From his statement, LeBron’s tone was that it was not his decision to give Blatt the championship ring. It sounds like if LeBron were part of Cleveland’s management team, he wouldn’t give Blatt a ring. Although that’s pure speculation, LeBron was part of the team that allowed Blatt to be fired even after leading the team to a 30-11 record.
Blatt was replaced by former NBA player Tyronn Lue, who was more gracious in saying that the former Cavs coach deserved a ring.
“I had to fight him a little bit. He didn’t want to do it. But he definitely deserves one. I’m glad he accepted it and I’m glad the organization is going to get him one,” Lue said in the same article.
Lue led LeBron and the Cavs to the franchise’s first-ever title beating the Golden State Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals. Cleveland was down 3-1 in the series but made the comeback, to win the championship last season.
The Cavs appreciate what Blatt contributed to the championship run but LeBron does not care what his former coach did for the team.
