Robert Nkemdiche might have impressed NFL teams at the scout combine but his past seems to haunt him and raises concern if he is fit to join the big leagues. This has had scouts from different NFL teams to exchange pointers if he deserves a shot at the pros and be the no. 1 pick for the 2016 NFL Draft.
It was reported that Nkemdiche got involved in an accident in December when he fell off a window of a hotel in Atlanta. He admitted that he was drunk at that time and was not on drugs, a thing that scouts could find hard to believe since police found substance inside his hotel room. He was then charged with drug possession.
“They (NFL teams) believe me. It’s the truth and it’s what I’m going to keep moving forward with. I’m going to stick to my story. That’s what it is. I’m going to keep moving forward, keep being in the moment and get ready to show out,” Nkemdiche said via Yahoo Sports.
As written in the police report, Nkemdiche fell from the fourth floor window of the Grand Hyatt Atlanta and according to the police report it appeared that he broke the window and then walked approximately 15 feet and climb over a wall and fell approximately 15 feet. He was conscious and in stable condition when officers reported to the scene and was taken immediately to Grady Memorial Hospital.
During the scout combine Nkemdiche displayed impressive numbers with 4.87 seconds in the 40-yard dash, 28 repetitions at 225 lbs. on the bench press, 35 inches on the vertical and 9-feet and 8 inches in the board jump enough to be considered as one of the top of his class come Draft Day.
Nkemdiche is a junior and plays as a defensive tackle for the Ole Miss Rebels. He has been named to the All-American Second Team (2015), All-SEC First Team (2015), two time USA Today’s HS All-American and Rivals High School Junior of the Year (2011).
