The Denver Broncos are the defending Super Bowl champions but the Indianapolis Colts have dominated them in recent years. In the Andrew Luck era, the Colts are 3-1 against the Broncos team known for their defense.
The Broncos opened the season with a close win over Cam Newton’s Carolina Panthers, 21-20. The Colts lost in their first game, 39-35 to the Detroit Lions, which got the win with a late field goal.
“We made a lot of plays, and we just ran out of gas (on defense). We just couldn’t make that one more play that we needed to make,” Colts head coach stated to ESPN about the loss to the Lions.

The Colts need to play better in the fourth quarter against a Broncos team that held the Panthers to a field goal in the second half of their season opener. Defense will again be the key for Denver just like last season when they won the Super Bowl.
The Broncos had three sacks to frustrate Newton in the opener. Denver wants to do the same to Luck, who is known for his passing skills than running.
“We wanted to make sure we got to him. Every time he ran we tried to put helmet and shoulder pads on him. If you’re not going to slide, we’re going to put something on you. We saw him limping throughout the game, so that running stuff, you can’t do that all game,” Broncos safety T.J. Ward stated.
