San Miguel Beermen management and the fans are now praying that their franchise player, Jun Mar Farardo’s injury will not be that serious after a collision in the 3rd quarter with Jireh Ibanes of the Rain or Shine Elastopainters.
The sequence happened in the 7:11 second mark of the 3rd period where Ibanes was trying to box out Fajardo from getting closer to the basket. Instead, Farjardo’s leg got tangled up with Ibanes that made him twist his knee in a very uncomfortable position.
As the doctors said, Fajardo heard a ‘pop’ on his knee.
Farardo did not return to the game and is now rushed to St. Lukes Hospital for check up for a suspected MCL or ACL.
Before leaving the game, Fajardo left the game with 11 points and 9 rebounds in 20:47 minutes of play.
San Miguel went on without Fajardo but eventually capped off the day with a win over Rain or Shine Elastopainters to punch their ticket to the PBA Philippine Cup Finals against the Alaska Aces.
An apologetic Jireh Ibanes faced the media after the game.
With the looming results of the MRI on Fajardo’s knee, San Miguel will have to find ways to survive their rematch with Alaska until the ‘Kraken’ comes back.
