UFC News: Ronda Rousey wants the pleasure of beating Holly Holm

As she takes her time off the Octagon, former women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has not forgotten the thing that will motivate her to come back – the pleasure of beating current champion Holly Holm.

After losing in their UFC 193 match held last November, Rousey has been soul searching even after her self-confessed thoughts of suicide, getting back into acting in front of the camera for the remake of the 1989 film “Road House,” and defending her beleaguered trainer.

Three months have passed and she has not set a time frame on her comeback and until then she wants Holly Holm to hold on tight to the title and wants to reclaim back everything at the right time. Rousey told Fox Sports that she wants Holm to win against Miesha Tate in the co-main event at UFC 196 which will also topbill Conor McGregor against Nate Diaz.

“I need her to win. I want to be the one to beat her. I don’t want anyone else to take the honor of beating her besides myself,” Rousey said.

On the other hand, Holly Holm in an interview with Yahoo Sports stated that if she agrees to a rematch with Ronda Rousey it will be for the passion of the sport and not for money nor fame. The “Preacher’s Daughter” added that she wants to make her own mark in the mixed martial arts world and getting paid with a hefty amount for it is not one of them.

“I don’t want to be a one-hit wonder. I don’t want it to be one performance. I want to show I’m here for a reason. For me, I want to keep going, keep getting better. Trust me, the last fight was one of the best moments of my life. But I don’t want to be defined by one fight, I don’t want that to be the whole focus of my life. I have a fight ahead of me, I have the belt, and I want to go in and prove something, I want to stay hungry,” Holm said.

And since both Rousey and Holm are waiting for the right time for the much awaited rematch, Rousey has to finish her acting appointments and get back into training again while Holm has to get rid of Tate on March 5 and wait for Rousey’s call.
