Red Card for USA v Ecu

Then there were 10 for both teams. Two players bite the dust and get sent off to the sidelines. Jermaine Jones threatens Antonio Valencia with a swinging fist in the latter’s face. Referee Wilmar Roldan gives him a straight card that boots him out of the game.

Jermaine Jones is the second player for US MNT that gets a suspension. DeAndre Yedlin already missed the quarterfinals due to suspension.

Meanwhile, Antonio Valencia is booked with his second yellow card that also issues him out of the game.

Enner Twice Denied

After the scuffle, Enner Valencia gets a ball into their net but the linesmen denies him the score. The goal at the 60th minute mark would have served as Ecuador’s equalizer for the game.

Enner goes for another goal at the 76th minute, quite free as he found a lapse in USA’s defense. However, his goal gets blocked by the bar.

Gyasin Zardes for the Dos

Bobby Wood makes up for his yellow card booking by setting up a great play for the goal. As he gets the ball, he passes it to Dempsey who sees Zardes opens. This Zardes’ first goal for his Copa America stint. The goal also secures USA’s semi-finals position.

Michael Arroyo for La Tricolor

Ecuador finally makes a goal courtesy of Michael Arroyo 74 minutes into the game. Arroyo delivers his free kick straight into the net, giving Ecuador hopes for their quarterfinal match.

However, Arroyo’s effort is wasted as Ecuador loses. USA moves forward to the semi-finals, awaiting the outcome of the Argentina v Venezuela match.
