The Top 10 new games and trailers revealed at The Game Awards 2016

The Game Awards 2016 just got more epic as it played host to announcements of upcoming video games and trailers for 2017. And as with every year, the award ceremony took the second stage to the non-stop hype train of trailers for next year’s games.

From fresh gameplay trailers for high-profile titles to brand new video game announcements, the event was a success. So, without further ado, here are the top new games and trailers revealed at The Game Awards 2016.

Bulletstorm: Full Clip

Engadget reports that People Can Fly and Gearbox Publishing polished the original game‘s ultraviolence for PS4, PC and Xbox One. The remastered game is due to land on April 7, 2017. It also features high-resolution textures, smoother frame rates and remastered audio. Additionally, it’ll run in up to 4K resolution on the PC and PS4 Pro.

Death Stranding

The trailer shows less about the game itself and more about revealing its world in an unsettling and nightmarish tone. Hideo Kojima is a master of weirdness and he fully embraces it since his divorce from Konami through this upcoming game. Many expect for it to hit it big since it is created by people with one hell of a strong track record for aiming big and hitting their target.

Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series

The trailer is less than a minute long and contains no characters or even a gameplay. But given Telltale’s previous work, including Batman, it’s likely that the game will be an interactive drama featuring a heavy focus on choice. According to Telltale CEO Kevin Bruner, per The Vergethe game “will take on multiple roles within the ragtag band of heroes and take the pilot’s seat in directing their escapades around the universe.”

Dauntless

Dauntless is an upcoming action RPG from an elite group of developers that stem from Riot, Capcom, BioWare and Blizzard. The game is a co-op RPG that takes place in a fantasy realm threatened by dinosaur-like beasts called behemoths. The player is put in a role of a behemoth hunter known as Slayer. Details are scarce about its gameplay but the game will launch on PC sometime in 2017.

Prey

Bethesda showed off in the new gameplay footage some of the various weapons and abilities Morgan Yu will wield against the amorphous black goo creatures in the upcoming game. The Arkane Studios-developed game is a re-imagining of the series after the release of the original Prey back in 2006, according to The Verge.

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the first open-world Zelda installment. Nintendo actually released two trailers of the game in the series. The second trailer featured a commentary where players will get a better understanding of how the new Zelda game will play. The game will launch on Wii U and the upcoming Nintendo Switch sometime next year.

Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment

Due out in spring 2017, the Shovel Knight prequel features the villainous Specter Knight. Players will work to establish the Order of No Quarter, according to Polygon. It’s the evil group that fights against Shovel Knight in the main game. So, players will play as one of the main villains from the original game.

Halo Wars 2

The new trailer from Microsoft and 343 Industries centers around the motivations and fearsomeness exhibited by the game’s lead villain, Atriox. It covers a brief history of Atriox and how he came to rule the Banished outside of the territories controlled by the Covenant.The game will launch on February 21, 2017.

The Walking Dead: A New Frontier

Telltall Games finally confirmed that The Walking Dead game will get a season 3 subtitled A New Frontier. Fans finally get the first look of a new main character and a grown-up Clementine. The game will be available to purchase either digitally or physically for mobile devices, home consoles and PC starting at the end of the month. The first season will span the likes of five episodes into early 2017.

Mass Effect: Andromeda

The gameplay trailer for Mass Effect: Andromeda is the perfect way to end the event. Just as it is, BioWare finally released an actual gameplay of the game and it looked like a bigger and shinier Mass Effect. Forbes calls it the No Man’s Sky that fans actually wanted. However, fans will give the verdict when the game is launched March 2017.
