Blizzard is preparing for the upcoming San Diego Con on July 21 to introduce its first new Overwatch hero character.
At this event, Blizzard will lead a panel at the San Diego Con, which entitled ‘Behind The Scenes of Overwatch’s Newest Hero’, to discuss everything about Overwatch, including the creative process of developing a new character and more.
But this is no longer new to everyone, the industry has been expecting this. Blizzard has been fueling lots rumors and buzz of a new Overwatch playable hero since the game launched back in May. Blizzard has secretly planted hints all over the game, trailers, and even interviews, encouraging players to crack the puzzle and find out what’s next at Overwatch.

According to GameRant, Blizzard developers James Waugh (director of the story & creative development), Michael Chu (senior designer, Overwatch), and Arnold Tsang (assistant art director, Overwatch) present a behind-the-scenes look into the creative process of developing the art, design, and story for Overwatch’s newest hero,” upcoming panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Blizzard could be unveiling Overwatch‘s newest hero at the event.
Rumors said that the character will be a Support class sniper, whose rifle can be used to heal friendly heroes. They called it Sombra.
Additionally, a NeoGAF user has managed to put together a good rundown of evidence to support this new hero theory.
In addition to the NeoGAF user, this theory was also backed up by a teasing tweet from Overwatch’s official Twitter account, which posted a “confidential” image of a healing rifle with quotes from two existing characters, Torbjörn and established healer character Mercy.
For Overwatch, it was only a matter of time before they unveiled the next Overwatch hero. The timing is good for Blizzard, the game is currently on fire, gaining lots of attention and popularity. Making the top game list of 2016 and best of all, ousting League of Legends from its top position as the most-played game in South Korea.
Launched in May 2016, Overwatch is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
