It’s a great news for PS4 gamers, The Banner Saga 2 finally has a release date on PlayStation 4 consoles.
Game publishers Stoic and Versus Evil have announced that development on The Banner Saga 2 is moving ahead of a schedule and that The Banner Saga 2 will make its PlayStation 4 debut three weeks earlier than originally expected.
According to Lance James, community director for Versus Evil, extra help from Sony Interactive Entertainment and Shiny Shoe, the studio tapped to deliver a faster launch to consoles, is the main reason why gamers can expect to see The Banner Saga 2 three weeks earlier than originally expected. In addition, the extra help from Sony Interactive Entertainment will also yield some special content for PS4 Banner Saga 2 players.
Unfortunately, the Versus Evil director didn’t go into much detail about the business deal with Japanese giant Sony that enabled the flurry of development. But James did confirm that the partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment has yielded a bit of platform-exclusive DLC, which reports said comes in the form of a unique in-game item with a powerful passive ability.
The PS4 version comes with some bonus: a passive ability boost and the Playful Hilt of Arnr, while for the Xbox One, players will get the Tome of X. According to iDigital Times, these items can be automatically unlocked in-game, but there’s also some option like that it can only be activated when a player reach the required level.
Released as a single-player campaign, The Banner Saga is a Viking-themed tactical role-playing video game developed by Stoic and published by Versus Evil. The game is a single-player campaign of turn-based combat engagements with the player controlling and being able to build up a party of characters with complementing abilities.
The game centers on the return of the Dredge, a warlike race that despises humans led by a nigh invincible Dredge Bellower.
In terms of setting and game style, The Banner Saga 2 is set in a Viking-inspired fantasy setting, chosen by the developers so as to avoid what they considered the “overdone ‘elves, dwarves and orcs’ dynamic”. With a visual style influenced by Eyvind Earle’s art for the 1959 Disney film Sleeping Beauty.
In case some Xbox gamers have missed it, The Banner Saga 2’s Xbox One release date was announced earlier this week, July 1, and that game is going to be free as part of July’s Games with Gold promo.
For the PS4 gamers, it will be available July 5. In addition, PlayStation Plus members can also get it for 10 percent off if they pre-order.
