The “Even Year Magic” of San Francisco Giants was beaten by the Chicago Cubs this postseason. However, the Giants are looking for ways to improve the team heading into the 2017 season. The latest MLB rumors suggest that San Francisco could reunite with Pablo Sandoval this offseason.

Giants interested in acquiring “Kung Fu Panda” from the Boston Red Sox

According to Evan Drellich of The Boston Herald, the Giants have considered a reunion with Pando Sandoval. He noted that the Red Sox have not made him available but he believes Dave Dombrowski should cut ties with overweight third baseman.

“The easy move for Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski would be to jettison a player he did not bring on. Clear whatever money possible, write off a loss under owners who can handle it,” Drellich pointed out.

SF GM Bobby Evans denies having interest on trading for Pablo Sandoval

Evans told Chris Haft of MLB.com that they are not considering acquiring their former player. However, he said that he very thankful for all the great years Sandoval had in San Francisco. The 30-year-old helped the Giants win three World Series championships in 2010, 2012 and 2014.

“I am not aware of any consideration of a reunion but we’ll never forget all that he meant to the Giants organization,” Evans said.

The Giants already have a third baseman in Eduardo Nunez. They acquired the speedy infielder from the Minnesota Twins last season. He had a career-year this season as he was named to his first All-Star game but he was limited in the postseason due to a hamstring injury.

The Giants need to improve their outfield and bullpen, not the infield

According to Grant Brisbee of McCovey Chronicles, the Giants’ biggest problem this offseason is their outfield and bullpen. Angel Pagan and Gregor Blanco are set to become free agents. MLB rumors in San Francisco imply that they could be interested in players like Dexter Fowler, Yoenis Cespedes, and Jose Bautista.

On the other hand, the Giants have been linked with the top three closers on the free agent market. Out of Aroldis Chapman, Kenley Jansen, and Mark Melancon, Melancon seems to be going to San Francisco this winter. Nevertheless, these are just MLB rumors at the moment and nothing has been confirmed.
