The MLB Trade Deadline is fast approaching and teams looking to make a playoff push are looking to acquire talent while losing teams will be sellers. According to the latest MLB rumors, the Chicago Cubs are still interested in New York Yankees reliever Andrew Miller.

Andrew Marchand of ESPN reported on Monday that the Yankees could target 23-year-old first baseman prospect, Dan Vogelbach, from the Cubs. He noted that Vogelbach may become a better hitter than Yankees 1B prospect Greg Bird.

Marchand added that the 23-year-old is more suitable as a designated hitter rather than a first baseman or an outfielder. Both Vogelbach and Bird are going to be the successors to DH Alex Rodriguez and 1B Mark Teixeira.

The Yankees have not officially confirmed that they will be selling some of their players but the New York Daily News believes that it is inevitable. He mentioned that players such as Miller, Aroldis Chapman, Carlos Beltran, Nathan Eovaldi and Ivan Nova could be traded.

Out of those players, Miller and Chapman are at the top of the Cubs wishlist this deadline. They are one of the favorites to win the World Series but they need to improve their bullpen. Their minor league system is also full of top prospects, and they could offer a package of Vogelbach, third baseman Jeimer Candelario and a couple of young arms for Miller or Chapman.

Jon Heyman of Today’s Knuckleball noted that the Cubs offers to the Yankees are “not among the best.” If Chicago wants to acquire one of the two best relievers in baseball, they will need to give the Yankees an offer they can’t refuse.
