BJ Penn who is coming out of retirement, is in troubled waters again. The famous fighter will be questioned by the Hilo (Hawaii) Police Department in connection with an alleged sexual case against him.
The Police Department has launched a fresh probe into the alleged second-degree sexual assault made by the girlfriend of BJ Penn’s former employee.
The alleged victim, whose name has not been disclosed yet, first filed the complaint with the Delaware County Sheriff’s office on Feb. 16. In her report she stated that she had been sexually assaulted in Hawaii. A copy of the report was received by Hilo Police Department only last week, MMA Fighting reports.
The victim’s boyfriend Pedro Carrasco is the former editor of Penn’s website BJPenn.com. Apparently Carrasco was fired last year for “unethical behaviour”.
Speaking to The MMA Hour on Monday, BJ Penn said that the allegation has put him on the “backburner”.
“It put me on the backburner for a little while,” the 37-year-old said. “That definitely hurt my heart. I’ve got kids, I’ve got two baby daughters, and of course something like that is going to hurt your heart. People know who I am and what you see is what you get with me. I’m just a family man, I’ve got two kids, and you know, that’s it. I wish I could get into more, but I’m sure my lawyers wouldn’t appreciate that.”
Applauding the UFC for investigating the matter with an outside company, Penn said that he is glad UFC did it. In a statement issued last week, UFC said that it had hired Campbell & Williams, a Las Vegas-based law firm to examine the situation.
Presently, the legendary fighter is “glad” that he has got a chance to get back into the Octagon.
