Holly Holm says she will not deny Ronda Rousey a rematch
Holly Holm stated she is very open for a rematch with Ronda Rousey, whom she beat in 2015, and will not deny her that opportunity as well.

Holly Holm is the name Ronda Rousey remembers well and the person she wants inside the Octagon before she retires. Holm stated she is very open for a rematch with Rousey and will not deny her that opportunity as well.

But before everyone gets too excited for the rematch, Holm explained she needs to settle one business first. Holm obviously was referring to facing Germaine De Randamie for the women’s featherweight title at UFC 208 slated in Feb.

As Holm prepares for her title fight, she tells Rousey to do the same. Rousey will challenge Amanda Nunes for the women’s bantamweight title at UFC 207 on Dec. 30 in Las Vegas. If both fighters emerge victorious then, Holm stressed last weekend that she is down with the rematch.

“I don’t think about it because there’s a lot that has to happen,” Holm as told by NY Post. “That’s what I say when people ask me about it. ‘Hey, don’t you want to rematch Ronda?’ And I’m like, ‘Well, there’s a fight that’s taking place Dec. 30. Then there’s a fight taking place Feb. 11, that could be the make or break of everything. Who knows what will happen in three months? Anything can happen in three months.”

What should take place first?

Rousey, who is highly hyped, must win over women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 207. Many are questioning Rousey’s mind status since she lost the title to Holm back in 2015. It must be remembered that she opened up to Ellen DeGeneres about going into depression after losing her title.

It took a while for Rousey to make her comeback and finally find an opportunity in taking on Nunes. She aims to reclaim the title and gauge herself where her MMA career is heading. Fight fans see Rousey as the underdog coming off UFC 207 but she is the most promoted fighter than Nunes.

Aside from her mindset, Rousey will have to deal with handling Nunes’ awesome attack inside the Octagon. Rousey promised that she will all be “business” come fight night and that she is in the right disposition.

How about Holm?

Holm is focusing on fighting De Randamie for the inaugural women’s featherweight title. Aside from that, there is the possibility that whoever wins the title will get to face Cris Cyborg Justino. But, Holm stresses that she is not looking far to get the fights, she just gets the call and agrees to take them all.

“I don’t look too far ahead in the future,” Holm explained when asked about fighting Cyborg. “If you would have asked me before my last fight, ‘Do I want to fight for a 145 lb title?’ I would have said, ‘Well, I don’t know. I have this fight in front of me.’ We take it one fight at a time. That’s the only way I can really look into it. But, I’m always open to whatever comes my way.”

Holm stresses she is not so picky when it comes to taking in fights. She is down in fighting Cyborg, even entertaining the idea of challenging for the women’s bantamweight. Holm is even ready to face Rousey is a “super fight,” if that is what fight fans want to see.
