Holly Holm gave Ronda Rousey the first loss of her career with a monumental upset victory in UFC 193 to clinch the UFC women’s bantamweight title. Since then, fight fans have been dying for a Ronda-Holly rematch.
However, fans will have to wait a little bit longer after Rousey confirmed that she will be returning to Octagon only after fulfilling her movie commitments.
Before the probable rematch, Holm will be making her title defense against Miesha Tate at UFC 197.
When asked about her rematch with Rousey, Holm said that she would love to meet Rousey again inside the Octagon but only if the former champion is “passionate” about it.
“I would rather meet someone in the cage when they’re passionate about it,” Holm said in the UFC 197 press conference via MMA Fighting.
“I don’t want it to be because they feel like they have to or because it’s expected or other people are curious about it. It’s Ronda’s life. I want her to do what she wants to do.”
Rousey will appear in the new comedy film “Do Nothing Bitches”, which also stars Tina Fey. She will also be hosting Saturday Night Live on January 23 where Selena Gomez will appear as the musical guest.
Rousey has her plate full it seems but for Holm, all she wants for herself is to continue her mixed martial arts career.
“For me, I want to keep fighting. And if Ronda wants to come back and that’s her passion, great. If she wants to stay in movies, great,” Holm added.
Ever since their fight, Holm has nothing but good things to say about Rousey to the point of even asking Rousey’s haters to back off who started slamming Rousey after her loss. Rousey, on her part though is yet to congratulate Holm on her victory.
