Jon Jones will finally get to renew his rivalry with Daniel Cormier at UFC 200 on July 9. Immediately after it was announced that their rematch will headline UFC 200, Jones left no stone unturned to taunt Cormier.
“DC should have a lot of confidence. Outside of me, he’s the next best thing. He can beat these other guys. He can’t beat me. I don’t believe greatness is coincidence, and I don’t believe DC is great,” Jones said, reports MMA Fighting.
Citing examples, Jon Jones said that neither Cormier could beat him before nor can he beat him again.
“If he was great, he would’ve beaten me the first time. I’ve never lost a fight. So let him be confident. He can beat these other guys all day. He’s not beating me,” he said.
Jones even went on to say that he is going to make Cormier “cry again”.
Clearly, Daniel Cormier was not at all impressed with Jon Jones’ trash talks. He immediately responded back saying that he would defeat Jones in a way that OSP could not.
“I’m not changing anything,” Cormier said. “I’m going right at his ass. I’m not changing nothing. I will tell him right now, last time I didn’t take Jon down as many times as I wanted to. This time, they’re going to say fight, I’m going right over there to take him down. I’m going to hold his ass down for 25 minutes. I’m going to take him down and hold him down for 25 minutes.”
Jon last met Cormier in 2015 where he had unanimous victory to defend his UFC light heavyweight title. The pound-for-pound fighter’s latest victory over Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 197 has shown that he is still in form even after a 15-month layoff.
