UFC Updates: Miesha Tate also wants Cris Cyborg not just Ronda Rousey, Holly Holm not on the list?

By on

UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion Miesha Tate will be defending her title against Amanda Nunes next month but Tate has something in her mind, it’s Ronda Rousey.

Tate (18-5) has suffered two big losses at the hands of Ronda Rousey, who was still undefeated at that time they fought.

Rousey (12-1) has not fought since suffering a devastating knockout at the hands of Holly Holm at UFC 193 in November 2015. The loss was the first of Rousey’s UFC career and cost her his bantamweight title, a title now held by her archrival Miesha Tate. The latest news from UFC president Dana White has her coming back either at the end of this year or early next year.

No doubt, Tate wants some revenge here, but before Tate can even consider a third clash with her archrival Ronda Rousey, she needs to beat Amanda Nunes first this July. The 29-years-old MMA fighter has already proven her toughness when she defeated Holly Holm at UFC 196 in March.

Tate is gearing up for a title defense against Amanda Nunes at UFC 200 this coming July 9, and Tate admits that she’s laser-focused on this upcoming fight. Amanda Nunes (12-4) is a fierce competitor and hunger glory. Those traits are the same things Miesha Tate carried when she beat Holly Holm at UFC 196.

“Right now I’m trying to really stay focused on Amanda and I know everyone is excited about that Rousey fight,” Tate said in a statement, via MMA Fighting. “I hope that’s something that happens. But I don’t want to overlook Amanda, because if I don’t beat Amanda there’s no next.”

When asked during an interview if she’d ever consider fighting the Brazilian fighter Cris “Cyborg” Justino, Tate replied with just three words … BRING IT ON! Tate said that she’s open for discussion about future showdown against the Brazilian MMA fighter.

However, Tate didn’t provide any statement about a possible rematch with Holly Holm. Earlier reports suggested that a rematch between Miesha Tate and Holly Holm was ‘never’ discussed on the table, and that Tate has turned down Holly Holm rematch in favor of Amanda Nunes.
