Ronda Rousey will be facing UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 on Dec. 30 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The Brazilian mixed martial artist revealed that fighting “Rowdy” is her dream match and vows to be better than Holly Holm.
Ronda Rousey was last seen in the Octagon at UFC 193 where she suffered her first loss against Holly Holm. After being dethroned, the UFC women’s bantamweight belt continues to be passed to different female fighters. UFC president Dana White claimed in the past months that Rousey will be facing whoever is the champion at the time she decided to fight again.
After beating Miesha Tate at UFC 200, Amanda Nunes openly announced that she wants to fight “Rowdy” in her first title defense. Now that her dream match is officially scheduled, Nunes is confident that she can defeat the former champ and said that the “real Ronda” was exposed by Holly Holm.
“I’m the underdog because Ronda is famous and everyone likes to talk about her and all of that,” Nunes said. “I get it. I understand it. But I’m going to win. I know it. The Ronda who fought Holly is the real Ronda. All the other opponents she had, they were [intimidated] and they made the mistake she was waiting for. It made Ronda look great and it made her a [superstar].
“But the only person who did it with a different strategy was Holly Holm and look what happened.”
Amanda Nunes believed that breaking Rousey’s rhythm will be the key factor in winning the UFC 207 main event. The UFC women’s bantamweight champions also boasted that she will be better than Holly Holm when she faces “Rowdy”.
However, Ronda Rousey will not make the same mistake she did in her fight with Holly Holm. Despite Nunes’ confidence to win, oddsmaker Joey Oddessa revealed that Rousey is 3-1 favorite to win the fight.
