UFC lightweight Nate Diaz expressed his opinion on the rumored superfight between Conor McGregor and retired boxing champion Floyd Mayweather, saying that it was only a bluff.

Nate Diaz, who defeated Conor McGregor at UFC 196 in March, said that the rumored superfight only served as a publicity stunt and there is no chance that it will really happen.

“I think the Mayweather thing is a publicity stunt,” Diaz said via ESPN. “It’s great for both of them. Boxing followers will start following Conor, MMA followers are going to start following Floyd. They’re all benefiting, and no one is losing, so they’re going to keep the ball rolling.

“But every day I hear about this Mayweather s—, it’s always about, ‘Am I going to take the fight?’ It seems like this is a pretty big deal, can I get compensated for it? … I’m like, ‘Hey, I call your bluff. Fight [Mayweather], I’ll be right here.'”

Diaz said that the Mayweather-McGregor fight is just a publicity stunt in order for the people to forget how he embarrassed the featherweight champion when they met at UFC 196. He also added that there have been negotiations between him and Dana White about his rematch with Conor McGregor at UFC 202.

However, it seemed like the conversation did not go well, forcing White to walk out from the restaurant and leave. According to a previous report, Nate Diaz is demanding a higher paycheck when their rematch happens, something that the UFC president disagree.

In the middle of the controversies about the superfight between McGregor and Mayweather, Nate Diaz stated that he is a better boxer than the Irish fighter. He boasted that he has sparred with former world boxing champion Andre Ward in California.

“I guarantee I’d do better than McGregor would.”

For Diaz, the idea of an MMA fighter fighting a boxing champion sounds ridiculous. He has experience training with professional boxers through the majority of his career including top-ranked boxer Andre Ward and when he saw the boxing sparring video of McGregor, he can’t help but laughed.
