Who knows what Ronda Rousey is planning to do next with regard to her mixed-martial-arts (MMA) career. She suffered what was then unthinkable by losing back-to-back, both in the first round against Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes.
But unlike her first loss to Holm, Ronda Rousey is exhibiting much better demeanor now. She’s no longer talking about ending her life, or what her value has become as a person without a championship title. In fact, Rowdy turns out to be championing a cause by showing up at the Standing Rock to battle President Trump’s pipeline revival.
While erstwhile US President Obama denied the issuance of a permit for the pipeline to cross the river pending further research, President Trump has issued an executive order to overturn it. Ronda Rousey stands firm against this, and her fans are happy to see her with a certain fighting spirit from within.
Julianna Pena wants to fight Ronda Rousey
This potential fight has been broiling for years. Back when Julianna Pena was about to fight Rowdy’s friend and coach Shayna Baszler, she claims Rowdy belittled her.
“You don’t forget something like that,” Pena recently told MMA Fighting. “When someone disrespects you like Ronda did to me you don’t forget that.” Julianna Pena ultimately proved Ronda Rousey wrong by beating Baszler and winning the tournament.
Julianna Pena admits that her goal right now is to face Amanda Nunes. To get to her, she needs to get past Valentina Shevchenko first. “Ronda doesn’t have the belt anymore. Amanda Nunes does. Beating Ronda does not prove to the world that I’m the best fighter, so I have no time for that right now. I’m going to beat Valentina and then I’m going to fight Amanda and show everyone who’s the best.”
But nobody even knows if Ronda Rousey will ever fight again. It’s not that she doesn’t have a future fighting in MMA, but she now has reached a point where she may have so many options to choose from. We all know she loves pro wrestling. She does have a modeling career awaiting her.
Gina Carano gives advice
Whatever Ronda Rousey chooses to do, former MMA star Gina Carano offers her support. The latter was so popular, she was called the “face of women’s MMA” before she concentrated on acting.
“I think Ronda should do whatever she wants to do. She’s only 29,” Gina Carano said according to News.com. “She’s an amazing athlete but she needs to express herself as an artist, too. So let her do what she wants to do and just follow along her journey and support her.”
Both Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano were once pitted against each other, but Carano decided to focus on her acting career. Rowdy has had her share of acting too. She guested in films like the Entourage and Furious 7.
“Fight life is hard but so is being on film,” Gina Carano added. “You’ve just got to do your passion and do what you’re passionate about.” Who knows what’s on Ronda Rousey ‘s mind at the moment?
