Meanwhile, Amanda Nunes builds her strength in the shadows, at the comfort of her girlfriend Nina Ansaroff.

“It helps me to be calm because I know Nina understands,” Amanda Nunes told USA Today Sports.

Nina Ansaroff is a UFC fighter herself, making her way in the strawweight division with a 6-5 record.

“She knows everything that goes into being a fighter so I don’t have to explain why I am doing this or that. Sometimes getting ready to fight is a difficult time, but she makes it easy for me and I try to do the same for her.”

There may not be a perfect person out there, but the right partner is what the Amanda Nunes in all of us will ever need in terms of personal and career development.

If Nunes wins over Ronda Rousey she shall have been the only UFC women’s bantamweight champ other than Rowdy to defend the title. Perhaps much credit will go to Nina Ansaroff for her role in keeping Nunes prepared and confident even with minimal promotion and unequal support from the UFC.

Not only is Nina there to provide moral support, but also actual technical learning as they train together. If at times their relationship gets in a way in sparring, Amanda Nunes trains with other girls at the gym with Nina’s full support. It is a perfect scenario for mutual growth.

“We chase the dream together,” Amanda Nunes said in a report by ESPN for UFC 207 news. “I want her to get there because she helped me to get here.”

“For sure, being in a relationship with someone who understands what is going on helps my fighting,” Nunes said.

“But on the other side because we are fighters helps to make the relationship stronger. We understand the work that we put in and we respect each other. We met through fighting and it brings us closer. If I am cutting weight she helps. This has helped make me champion.”
