Since the announcement of UFC 207, mainly the comeback fight of former UFC champion Ronda Rousey versus Amanda Nunes, the promotions leading to fighting night has been generally one-sided.
For her part, Ronda Rousey continues her quest to regain the title she had defended six times. Some experts chimed in, suggesting she take low-key fights first before going for the title, but Rowdy is wasting no time. She isn’t sharing much of her thoughts with the media either.
In spite of her silence, UFC 207 promotions have been mostly about her than her opponent Amanda Nunes. Ronda Rousey has not fought for over a year and yet she’s still ranked no. 2 in the world of the UFC.
“I find it extremely bizarre that all these UFC 207 promos only focus on Ronda and very little about the champion,” Joe Rogan tweeted, according to a report by Metro. “Ronda deserved every bit of hype she got, but Holly KO’ed her, Miesha choked out Holly, and Amanda smashed Miesha. That should be respected.”
Ronda Rousey halfway there, Amanda Nunes falls ill
Ronda Rousey seems to be coming up strong and jacked up as fight time closes in. The fact that she continues to fend off the media and refuse to say much at all makes her return even more mysterious. Now, analysts are a bit weary about Amanda Nunes.
The current champion has been reported under the weather, according to a report by MMA Mania. She canceled her media luncheon on Tuesday to take some time off and rest. Although she insists she will be fine for UFC 207, doubts are slowly creeping in.
One has to be in better shape to beat Ronda Rousey. If Nunes goes in there partly weak – mentally or physically – it could only mean Rowdy’s already halfway victorious. It would only be a matter of time before she uses her strength and skills to stomp on a floundering Nunes.
Latest UFC 207 promo on Amanda Nunes (Finally)
The latest promo focuses on Amanda Nunes for a change. It touches on her personal relationship with Nina Ansaroff (UFC Strawweight), and how this turns into a healthy partnership in terms of improving their careers.
They train together, and unlike other couples who work together, they don’t have that friction even when they spar.
“Her ability to use distance and a large variety of attacks makes her real dangerous. I see her with the title, honestly.” Mike Brown (Amanda Nunes ‘ MMA coach) said in a report by CampusSports.
“Amanda Nunes is a beast. She doesn’t just do one thing. She does everything. Everything is hard with bad intentions…” Roger Krahl (Amanda’s striking coach) is quoted in the promotional video.
